Impunity Watch is an international non-profit organisation working with victims of violence to deliver redress for grave human rights violations, uproot deeply ingrained structures of impunity, and promote justice and peace. Impunity Watch has worked with partners in the DRC since 2012. We are in the process of expanding our programme. To this end, we recently secured a multiannual grant for a transitional justice project to be implemented in partnership with another INGO in North Kivu and Ituri. The project (2024-2026) aims to contribute to an inclusive and comprehensive transitional justice process in the DRC, including community-based non-judicial initiatives. We will work with national partners, victim groups, and civil society to promote and monitor transitional justice processes; and we will support locally-driven advocacy towards policymakers at the provincial and national levels.

Job description
To provide specialised TJ know-how and to support the implementation of the project, we are seeking a Programme Officer (100%).

The Programme Officer will be broadly responsible for three main areas of work. (1) They will organise and run capacity-strengthening sessions among victim groups and civil society in North Kivu and Ituri. (2) They will support partners in the organisation of local truth-telling and dialogue processes in the two provinces. (3) They will provide support to communities in the establishment of non-judicial transitional justice initiatives. The Programme Officer will also participate in advocacy actions and expert workshops with national and international policymakers to advocate for the meaningful participation of communities in policymaking.
 

About you
